You know
         Change never comes easily
But voices—

Honoring the voices of both women and men in Weaving Our Sister's Voices demanded artistic problem solving. How could we do justice to these stories within our structure of live performance? Through the layer of music, I took advantage of a third voice that also helped to weave the stories together. All three of these voices made a difference and did justice to the vision we created together.
My process as a director is not just about carefully crafting an evening of theatre for an audience, but also for carefully crafting a performing ensemble. I do this in many small and large ways throughout the rehearsal process, but with this production in particular I have had the opportunity to refine the process through the three productions.

Directing any show presents its own challenges, and it takes courage to find artistic solutions to those challenges. The courage of the women in these stories served as an inspiration for my own challenges and opportunities. While the women from Weaving Our Sisters’ Voices faced hardships greater than my own, I still drew from their courage as I created, directed and choreographed these theatrical productions.
